Worth The Wait!

So how long did it actually take? Well, recording started in November of 1999; yes that's right, in the last century! And it continued till about February of 2000. So far, not so bad.

Taylor-Made Productions in North Caldwell is where it all happened. Glenn Taylor was our first recording engineer/producer way back when in 1986, when we made a cassette sampler we called 'The Basement Tapes'. Now, Glenn's ensconced in a much larger, much better equipped studio where the likes of Tommy James come to make great music.

After those months of recording and mixing, the CD was done. And we were all very happy with it. Now the easy part, right? Put the art work together and have a large quantity duplicated for the masses out there, clamoring for new Birdie material (well, as new as Birdie material gets). Well, not quite. Even thought we've been selling the new CD at gigs sans any art work, you guys have been buying them with the explicit promise that the art work was forthcoming...and we really appreciate it. But of course, life got in the way, and the art work never happened.

Then Guano Pyle came to the rescue. Yep, our spiritual leader, now living in Vermont with the mooses and other assorted wildlife, designed the definitive cover art for Tracks. Sort of a 60-ish look at jug band music, Birdie-style. And friends, it's now ready....about 18 months after the project began. Longer than it took for Apocalypse Now. Longer than Heaven's Gate. Longer even than Michael Jackson's marriage to Lisa Marie Presley (did that really happen, or was I just imagining it?).

But it was well worth the wait....Take a listen to a low-fi version of "Masculine Women, Feminine Men" , and here's the rest of the tracks....

My Gal The Old Account
If Walls Could Talk Crazy Blues
Your Next Boyfriend Blues My Naughty Sweetie
